I saw her across the room once I entered the main room, and had to immediately shield myself behind the couch. I prayed no one saw my body's reaction to her, the girl dressed up in the fur-trimmed viking costume. Sure, plenty of women had been wearing less (some, much less), but it was her that caught my attention.

My eyes stayed on her as she walked toward me, much to my chagrin. Had she seen my reaction? Or was she just walking over to talk to the dork in the corner?

“Hi,” she said, grinning.
